Chief Minister Rangasamy Launches Accident Insurance Scheme for Red Ration Card Families

Puducherry : In a momentous occasion, Chief Minister Rangasamy of Puducherry handed over the first premium cheque to Universal Sompo General Insurance Co. Ltd., marking the commencement of the Chief Minister’s Accident Insurance Assistance Scheme. This scheme is specifically tailored for families below the poverty line with red ration cards.

The Chief Minister’s Accident Insurance Assistance Scheme is an essential initiative brought to life by the Social Welfare Department of Puducherry. By collaborating with Universal Sompo General Insurance Co. Ltd., the department aims to provide comprehensive insurance coverage for those who need it the most.

This year, a staggering 4.85 lakh individuals aged between 18 and 70 years, holding red ration cards, will get insurance coverage of Rs. 2 lacs in case of accidental death.

The official premium payment ceremony took place yesterday at the Assembly, where Chief Minister Rangasamy presented the premium cheque to the insurance company. This event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Social Welfare Minister Thanee Jayakumar, Director Kumaran, Regional Manager of Universal Sompo General Insurance Co. Ltd., Anandaraja and his team.

This remarkable initiative is a testament to the government’s dedication to the welfare of its citizens, ensuring that those in need have access to crucial financial assistance in times of unforeseen accidents.
