Delhi : Federal Express Corporation (“FedEx”) today announced plans to develop a new
integrated air cargo hub at GMR Cargo City at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, further
strengthening its connectivity across North and East India and linking businesses in these markets with
destinations across its global network.
The proposed facility represents a long-term investment of approximately US$150 million by FedEx.
Spread across approximately 230,000 square feet, the fully automated integrated air cargo hub is
designed to bring international gateway and pickup-and-delivery operations together within a single
facility, enabling greater operational efficiency and faster, more seamless movement of shipments.
Once operational, the hub is designed to increase processing capacity from 600 to 5,000 packages per
hour, with the flexibility to scale further as demand grows.
The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Hon’ble Minister of Civil
Aviation, Government of India.
The facility is planned to feature an advanced auto-sorter, latest-generation X-ray machines and
enhanced security systems, alongside intelligent package-handling technologies. These capabilities will
support efficient and reliable shipment movement, strengthen network resilience and enhance the
customer experience.

GMR Cargo City is being developed as an integrated, future-ready cargo and logistics ecosystem at Delhi
Airport, bringing together global logistics players, cargo operators and allied services within a strategically
located airport-based platform. Designed to strengthen Delhi’s position as a leading air cargo gateway
and support India’s growing trade, e-commerce and express logistics requirements, the 50-acre
development has a total potential of approximately 1.5 to 2 million square feet. Phase 1 will comprise
approximately 1 million square feet of development across nearly 30 acres. The detailed design for Phase
1 has been finalised by leading consultants, enabling works have commenced, and construction is
expected to begin shortly.
The proposed FedEx integrated air cargo hub marks a significant milestone in this vision, reinforcing
GMR Cargo City’s role as a preferred destination for world-class logistics infrastructure and seamless
global connectivity.
