Kolkata : Sahidul Islam, a final-year student of the Biotechnology (B.Tech – BIOTECH) 2026 batch, has achieved an exceptional milestone by securing All India Rank 25 (BIOTECH) in the highly competitive Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026.
GATE remains one of India’s most prestigious national-level examinations for postgraduate admissions and recruitment into Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). This year, the examination witnessed over 10 lakh registrations, with nearly 7 to 8 lakh candidates appearing, reflecting the intense level of competition and the growing aspiration among engineering and science graduates to pursue advanced studies and research. Securing a position among the Top 25 candidates nationwide places Sahidul Islam in the top 0.003% of aspirants, marking an extraordinary academic accomplishment.
The Biotechnology paper, known for its rigorous and multidisciplinary nature, typically sees over 25,000 registrations annually, with around 20,000 candidates appearing. Achieving such a high national rank in this domain underscores not only Sahidul’s academic excellence but also his dedication, consistency, and deep conceptual understanding of the subject.
From the Biotechnology (BIOTECH) stream, a focused group of students appeared for GATE 2026, reflecting a strong culture of academic ambition and research orientation within the department. Sahidul Islam’s achievement stands as the highest from the batch, setting a benchmark for future aspirants and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to nurturing excellence.
