Karnataka : A massive free Divyangjan surgical consultation, screening and selection camp, along with a 3D-printed Narayan Modular Artificial Limb measurement camp based on Japanese and German technology and a Bhamashah felicitation ceremony, was organized on Sunday at Classic Function Hall, Havam Bhavi, Bellary.
The camp was jointly organized by Narayan Seva Sansthan and Sanmarg Geleyara Balaga, Bellary. More than 850 Divyangjans attended the camp, while expert doctors and the Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) team took measurements for Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs (prosthetic hands and legs) for 649 beneficiaries.
The camp was inaugurated by chief guest and former MLA of Kurugodu constituency Suryanarayana Reddy, along with Sanmarg Geleyara Balaga Bellary President H. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police Prasad Gokhale, Bengaluru Branch President Vinod Jain and distinguished guests Nilesh Jain of Jain Trade Organization Bellary, social workers Surajmal Bagrecha, Uttam Jain, Rajesh Bagrecha, Ashok Bhandari, D. Shiva Prasad, Pukhraj Bhurat Jain and Pathi Raghu, among others, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Chief guest former MLA Suryanarayana Reddy said, “Serving Divyangjans is the truest form of service to God. Narayan Seva Sansthan has been working with dedication for the holistic development and self-reliance of Divyangjans for years. Such humanitarian initiatives deserve continuous support from society.”
Presiding over the programme, Sanmarg Geleyara Balaga Bellary President H. Lakshmikanth Reddy said that he was deeply moved by the Sansthan’s spirit of service. He urged Divyangjans never to give up in life and to maintain self-confidence. He said that the Sansthan is doing exemplary work to empower Divyangjans physically, socially, economically and intellectually.
The guests visited the camp, interacted with the Divyangjans and learned from the medical team about the treatment and rehabilitation process.
Camp In-charge Hari Prasad Laddha welcomed the guests in accordance with the traditional customs of Mewar. On the occasion, he highlighted the Sansthan’s free service initiatives, including Divyangjan surgeries, distribution of prosthetic limbs, free meals for 5,000 needy people every day, free Narayan Children Academy education for children from economically weaker families, self-employment training and mass marriage programmes.
Narayan Seva Sansthan President Prashant Agarwal said that more than 850 Divyangjans registered at the camp. Expert doctors and the P&O team examined all the participants and took measurements for Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs for 649 Divyangjans. Measurements were also taken for calipers, while 25 Divyangjans were selected for free surgical procedures.
Bengaluru Branch President Vinod Jain said that the Divyangjans whose measurements were taken at the camp would be provided with lightweight, durable and high-quality Narayan Modular Artificial Limbs, manufactured using Japanese and German technology, free of cost at another camp to be organized in Bellary after approximately two to three months. Free food, tea and refreshments were arranged for all beneficiaries and their attendants. Around 40 team members provided their services at the camp, which was coordinated by Aishwarya Trivedi.
It is noteworthy that Narayan Seva Sansthan has been working in the field of social service since 1985. The Sansthan’s founder, Padma Shri Kailash ‘Manav’, has been honoured with the Padma Shri for his contribution to the field of service. Sansthan President Prashant Agarwal received the President’s Award in 2023 for his outstanding contribution towards the empowerment of Divyangjans. According to the Sansthan, more than 40,403 Divyangjans have so far been provided free prosthetic limbs, while more than 4.54 lakh Divyangjans have received free medical services across India and abroad.
