NSDCI signs MOU with PRIMAS, KLSICCI to boost recruitment of Indian students in Malaysia

Kochi : Aligning with the common goal of transforming India into the Skill Hub of the World, the international arm of the National Skill Development Corporation NSDCI has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners Association (PRIMAS) and Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KLSICCI) to boost India’s skilled workforce job opportunities in Malaysia.

The exchange of agreements happened during the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) Convention 2023 in the presence of Shri S. Jaishankar, Hon’ble Minister of External Affairs. The partnership with Malaysian organisations is expected to enhance the recruitment process of skilled students from well-established training institutes in India for joining the Malaysian workforce, boosting international mobility and providing a livelihood for Indian youth.

The liaison intends to establish an institutional framework for Indian youth to assess talent requirements in overseas markets, imparting high-quality training for catering to specific job roles and creating a world-class training infrastructure to promote international mobility. This shall be achieved by working in collaboration with NSDCI training partners for mobilization, counselling, skill training, pre-departure orientation, placement and immigration and post-placement support to the youth. This is in line with the Centre’s aim to make India a leading supplier of skilled workers to the global market through its domestic skill training programmes like Skill India, which is working in close coordination with numerous countries across various areas of interest, upscaling and ensuring global standards in skill development.

Speaking on the collaboration, Ved Mani Tiwari, officiating CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDCI stated that, “Mobility Partnership between India and Malaysia will help further our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of making India the skill capital of the world.”

The NSDCI team is currently in touch with various Malaysian Employers and associations to make the process more seamless. The nodal agency will also ascertain detailed job specifications including candidate eligibility, technical requirements, and others as well as facilitate the hiring process in coordination with training partners and employers. Additionally, the MoUs require Malaysian organisations to not only engage with NSDCI to conduct the end-to-end hiring process and issue offer letters to the prospective employee on the behalf of the employers but also facilitate project monitoring and evaluation through the hiring and employment life cycle.
