Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance, a South Shore practice specializing in unique programs that provide comprehensive treatment in orthopedic, spine and sports medicine specialties, hosted two stretch tents for participants at the Tour De South Shore Fundraiser in Hingham along with hosting a team. Hanover Assistant Clinic Manager Omar Abo-Sido PT, DPT and his current patient Alden Graham, who continues to experience a remarkable recovery from a stroke, were members of the Peak team.
The event was held by the McCourt Foundation to raise money and awareness of neurological diseases. The McCourt Foundation’s mission is to build a healthier world and find a cure for neurological diseases. The event included a 25 mile and a 50 mile bike route and a 5K Fun Run/Walk. The event raised over $165,000 to fund research into life-saving cures and treatments and provide free educational updates in neurology and beyond.
In April of 2021 Graham suffered a catastrophic stroke and was med flighted to Tufts Medical Center where he was placed on life support as he had gone into complete right heart failure. The doctors had to wait several weeks for the bleeding in his brain to stop before performing a 13 hour surgery to close a hole in the center of his heart and attempt to remove mass amounts of blood clots in his lungs. He remained on life support and completely sedated for 102 days. He remained in the hospital until September and then began his long journey of rehabilitation reaching out to Peak Physical Therapy for outpatient PT.
“I knew right away that I wanted to work with Omar on my recovery and over the course of the next year, I have continued to see Omar and my progress has been extraordinary,” said Graham. “I went from learning to walk properly again to now being able to run, lift weights and more. Omar and the team at Peak will forever be important to my family and me.”
“We congratulate Alden on his hard work and tremendous recovery and we are pleased to be a part of this exciting fundraiser for treating neurological diseases.” said Eric Edelman, PT, Owner of Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Performance. “Omar and our physical therapists are committed to the health and well being of our patients. We strive right alongside them to achieve their best quality of life.”
