Mumbai: PVR INOX Pictures, in association with Lionsgate Play India, will release the psychological crime thriller Primetime in Indian cinemas on September 25. Starring and produced by Robert Pattinson, the film marks director Lance Oppenheim’s narrative feature debut and delves into the blurred boundaries between journalism, entertainment, justice and public spectacle.
Set in 2006, Primetime follows television journalist Chris Hansen (Robert Pattinson) as he creates the groundbreaking show To Catch a Predator. The story examines how hidden-camera investigations turned criminal probes into a cultural phenomenon, while highlighting the ethical dilemmas that arise when real-world crime becomes television entertainment.
As both lead actor and producer, Pattinson brings depth to Hansen’s complex character, navigating ambition, the pursuit of truth and the consequences of spectacle-driven reporting. The ensemble cast includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine and Anna Faris.
