The Heritage School, Kolkata, hosted CISCE National Yoga Competition

The Heritage School, Kolkata, hosted the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Regional Games & Sports- National Yoga Competition on 12th and 13th October 2023.

The inaugural session of the event was graced by Dr. Abhijit Ghosh, Director, S-VYASA, Kolkata, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Amit Ghosh, Teacher, Classical Hatha Yoga addressed the inaugural session as the Guest of Honour.

Nearly 26 teams across 13 regions in India participated in this 2- day National Yoga Competition.

During the inaugural session, Dr. Abhijit Ghosh spoke about how Yoga plays an important role in leading a stress free life and contributes to overall mental well being. “India will lead the entire world through Yoga. Our Country will show the path towards a stress free life through Yoga,” said Dr. Ghosh during the inaugural ceremony. Mr. Amit Ghosh spoke about the way students are preparing themselves for the competition with enthusiasm and zeal. “I can feel the positive vibes in this auditorium before the onset of the National Yoga Competition,” said Mr. Amit during the inaugural session.

Students from various schools in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, North India, Kerala, North East India, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and many more are participating in this 2-day National Event.

“Yoga is the way towards a positive life. This competition gives an opportunity to the students to give their best setting as an example in the Country,” said Ms. Seema Sapru, Principal, The Heritage School, Kolkata.

“These two days will be a great challenge for the students who want to excel in the field of Yoga,” said Dr. Sunil Singh, Head, Department of Sports & Physical Education, The Heritage School, Kolkata. The Heritage School Yoga Teachers Ms. Ila Khandelia and Mr. Sanatan Mahakud were also present during the inaugural ceremony who have given their utmost efforts to make this event successful.

The final day of the event which is scheduled tomorrow i.e. 13th October 2023 will witness the declaration of the results and finally who won the CISCE National Yoga Competition. Around 500 students from the Country participated in this National Event.

“We are grateful to The Heritage School for giving us such a fabulous platform to perform in this National Event. We got all the support which is necessary,” said Ms. Nirmal Kaur, Sports Coordinator, from Sri Guru HarKrishan Public School, Punjab.
