4 Tips for Men to Help Fight Skin Damage due to Pollution!

Amidst this fast-paced style of living combined with increased exposure to heat and pollution, self-care and grooming is steadily gaining significance amongst men. With air pollution levels worsening daily, the unhealthy air affects our health and takes a massive toll on our skin in various ways.

Due to over-exposure to pollution, skin becomes dull, dehydrated and inflamed, along with some having clogged pores, making it difficult for the skin to breath. Pollution further causes skin ageing resulting in loss of skin elasticity and wrinkles. In today’s day and age, men are trying to be more aware of their skin’s needs and are actively more involved in choices of self-care and grooming routines.

Here are a few recommendations to help them with their skincare needs:

  • Cleansing: Cleansing your skin before stepping out is a precondition for any skincare routine. The cleanser comforts your skin and helps it fight dryness, hydrates it and helps minimize wrinkles. • Hydrate: Always keep yourself and your skin hydrated. Ample water intake is a necessity to avoid dehydration. To prevent greasy skin, apply a light moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and light during the day. A hydrating moisturizer will prevent your skin from cracking up due to poor air quality.
  • Sunscreen: Whoever said we should use sunscreen only before stepping out of home, was wrong! Applying sunscreen adds extra layers of protection from harmful pollutants. Choosing the right sunscreen that is a must, as pollution particles like dust, ash and pollen are smaller than the average skin pore and adhere to the oil on the skin, resulting in blocked pores and even breakouts. Ensure your sunscreen is non-oily and right for your skin type.
  • Balanced Diet: And last but not the least, eat right, feel right! Having a diet rich in minerals and vitamins will keep you healthy inside and out. Fresh juices, fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants and act as good fillers between meals.

Even though we don’t see the effects of pollution on skin, doesn’t mean the damage isn’t there. Having a skincare routine is now becoming a must for all to keep skin from early aging or dullness. Follow these steps and wait for results.
