AVPL International Establishes Drone Centre of Excellence at Government ITI Govandi, Mumbai in Collaboration with TSSC
Mumbai : AVPL International has established a Drone Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Government ITI Govandi, Mumbai, in collaboration with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), aimed at strengthening hands-on training and industry-ready skills in unmanned aerial technologies.
The initiative is designed to deliver structured, practical training in drone operations and real-world UAV applications, equipping students with the capabilities required to participate in India’s rapidly expanding drone ecosystem.
The facility has four specialised drone categories, enabling students to gain hands-on exposure to multiple use cases across different sectors. These include 10-litre agricultural drones for precision farming, surveillance drones for security monitoring, payload delivery platforms supporting logistics innovation, and search-and-rescue drones designed for disaster response applications.
Dr. Preet Sandhu, Founder and Managing Director, AVPL International, said, “India’s drone ecosystem will grow only when students gain hands-on exposure to real technologies and real use cases. Establishing this Centre of Excellence at Government ITI Govandi is part of our broader aim to make advanced drone training accessible within the technical education ecosystem. By introducing students to applications ranging from precision agriculture to disaster response, we aim to build a skilled workforce that can support India’s rapidly expanding UAV industry.”
Through practical modules and guided operational training, the lab will provide students with real-world insights into precision agriculture, security operations, logistics services, and emergency response technologies, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry deployment.
The facility has already received appreciation from senior representatives of Ericsson and the Telecom Sector Skill Council during their visit, who recognised the lab’s potential as a replicable model for drone skilling infrastructure across technical institutions in India.
By establishing advanced training facilities within technical institutions, AVPL International continues to strengthen India’s drone skilling ecosystem, preparing students for emerging opportunities in UAV technology while supporting the country’s broader vision of building a future-ready workforce.
