Bengal Pride: Dr. Saheli Biswas, Alumna of Heritage Institute of Technology, Wins Prestigious Australia-India Fellowship AUD 140000
Kolkata : The Heritage Group of Institutions proudly announces that Dr. Saheli Biswas, an alumna of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT), has been awarded a highly competitive fellowship under the Australia–India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF) Early and Mid-Career Researcher Fellowship program. Dr. Biswas is currently serving as a Research Scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia and will collaborate with premier research institutions in India through this prestigious award.
The AISRF fellowship round 5 has awarded 12 Australian researchers, collectively valued at just under AUD 140,000 (~USD 90,000), to support collaborative research projects spanning health monitoring technologies, sustainable materials innovation, and social research. The program, funded by the Australian Department of Industry, Science and Resources, marks the 20th anniversary of AISRF in 2026 and strengthens long-standing scientific ties between Australia and India.
Dr. Biswas will be working in partnership with researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad to advance research on recycling critical minerals from electrochemical devices — a priority area for sustainable technology development and circular economy initiatives.
“We are immensely proud of Dr. Saheli Biswas. This fellowship reflects not only her scientific excellence but also Heritage Institute of Technology’s strong foundation in fostering global research leaders,” said Dr. Sulagna Chatterjee, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Heritage Institute of Technology.
