Cars24 launches Deployment Inc, India’s first forward-deployed AI company, invests $5 million

Gurugram : Cars24 today announced the launch of Deployment Inc, an independent enterprise AI company that will help organisations design, implement and operate AI systems across critical business workflows.

Cars24 is investing an initial $5 million in Deployment Inc and will become its first customer. Deployment Inc will operate as an independent company serving enterprises across industries, including financial services, consumer businesses, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics and technology.

Today, an enterprise that wants to transform a complex workflow with AI often has to coordinate a strategy consultant, a model provider, a software vendor, a systems integrator and its own engineering team. Each owns a part of the project. No one owns the result.

Deployment Inc will give customers one accountable team. Its forward-deployed engineers, or FDEs, will work from inside the customer’s organisation. They will begin with a specific workflow and an agreed business metric, connect the necessary models to the company’s data and systems, deploy the new workflow against real traffic and remain involved until it operates reliably at scale.

The company is named after this work: the difficult distance between what an AI model can demonstrate and what an enterprise can depend on.

Deployment Inc was developed from the AI operating model built inside Cars24. AI agents at Cars24 now handle more than one million minutes of customer conversations each month. Service-request turnaround time has fallen from 32 hours to 30 minutes. Inspection time has been halved across more than 100,000 monthly inspections, and the same engineering team now produces three times more output. More than 45 AI agents operate across customer support, sales, financing, inspections, payments and internal operations.

Cars24 will use Deployment Inc to continue expanding AI across its business. The experience, systems and operating methods developed through that work will provide Deployment Inc with a production environment before it begins serving additional customers.

“Every enterprise will soon have access to powerful AI models. The scarce capability will be knowing how to turn them into systems that customers and employees can depend on,” said Vikram Chopra, Founder, Cars24. “I have watched Jayesh and his team build that capability inside Cars24 in workflows where the customer is waiting and the result cannot be hidden. Aayush brings the research depth required to keep that execution at the frontier. We are investing $5 million because we believe they can build the team enterprises trust with their most important operations.”

Deployment Inc is co-founded by Jayesh Gupta, who built and leads AI, scientific research and innovation at Cars24, and Aayush Gupta, an AI researcher and engineer whose experience spans xAI, Zomato, Atlassian, Disney+ Hotstar and other leading technology companies.

“Every new model resets what is possible. It should not force an enterprise to reset its AI strategy,” said Jayesh Gupta, Co-founder, Deployment Inc. “We are building the engineering and operating capacity that allows companies to absorb the frontier continuously. Our FDEs will work inside the business, against real constraints, and own the outcome. The product is not the agent. The product is the changed operation.”

For each engagement, Deployment Inc will work with the customer to select a high-value workflow and establish a baseline across time, cost, accuracy, conversion, or customer experience. Its engineers will then build and integrate the AI-led workflow, operate it alongside the existing process and measure the results. Human oversight will remain in place for important decisions, exceptions and escalations.

Deployment Inc has also been recognised as an OpenAI Select Partner for enterprise deployments. The company will use OpenAI’s frontier capabilities alongside its own engineering and implementation expertise to build production AI systems for customers.

Deployment Inc plans to hire 50 engineers this month, primarily forward-deployed engineers (FDEs), alongside AI strategy and go-to-market professionals. The company is also opening its first set of engagements to enterprises seeking to redesign critical operations around AI.
