CBSE announces Annual Conference of Sahodaya School Complexes

The Sahodaya Samiti, Gwalior will be organising the 27th edition of the National Conference of Sahodaya School Complexes under the aegis of CBSE on 17th and 18th January 2022 in an online mode on the theme ‘Punarnava – Rediscovery of India @ 75’, celebrating 75 years of India’s independence. This event will also be a part of various programmes organized by the Ministry of Education and its autonomous bodies for celebrating the iconic week of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Speaking about the Conference, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director Academics, CBSE, said, “The last two years have been a difficult time for humanity. However, amid the pandemic, the Indian school system has surged ahead, thanks to the determination and dedication of our educators. Interestingly, three things are coincident – just as we are celebrating 75 years of independence, we witness the new National Education Policy being implemented, alongside a massive digitalization of the education system. This Conference is  where we get together to celebrate the service the teachers have rendered to the nation, and deliberate on various aspects of school education that draw from the rich heritage of India and contribute to India’s global position of eminence in the 21st century.”

His Excellency Mangubhai C. Patel, Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Dr Subhas Sarkar, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, Smt. Anita Karwal, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, Sh. Manoj Ahuja, Chairman, CBSE, Dr Vijay Bhatkar, Chancellor – Nalanda University and many other eminent speakers will be addressing the delegates.  There will be sessions on Game-Based Learning, Music as a teaching tool, Mitigating Climate Change, Power of Storytelling, Importance of Archaeology, Yoga for efficiency, Mental Health and the Importance of Sports in education.

An e exhibition on the artwork of the students will be showcased during the conference. An e souvenir showcasing of the best practices adopted by the schools in preserving the heritage of the country will be released during the conference. The conference would also give a boost to the implementation of NEP 2020 in the affiliated schools of CBSE and other school boards in the country as the sub-themes will focus on the various recommendations of the policy.

The Sahodaya Samiti, Gwalior has invited various stakeholders of the education ecosystem to be a part of the event, and registrations are open on the conference website

Sahodaya Samiti, Gwalior was established in 2005 with 16 members in its fold. Today, it has grown to 59 members under its umbrella from Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Shivpuri, Dabra and Sheopur. The members meet once in two months to discuss various issues related to school education. A yearly calendar is floated in July after discussing the events that schools wish to host and also planning workshops for teachers. Literary, Art and Cultural competitions are organized by member schools as hosts. Competitions provide a great platform to display the knowledge, skills & hidden talents which students have. It also fosters the development of social and interpersonal skills besides building the confidence of the students.

The idea of Sahodaya Schools Complexes was first mooted by the Education Commission,1966. It was the National Policy on Education, 1966 which reiterated in strong words the need for promoting school complexes for meeting the quality of education. This set the tone for bringing the schools together and networking them for healthy interaction among themselves.
