Cityflo Partners with Project Mumbai to Bring ‘Turning Pages’ to Mumbai’s Daily Commute

The collaboration turns everyday travel time into a chance to rediscover reading in a digital-first world.

Mumbai: Cityflo, India’s leading urban transit bus service, has partnered with Project Mumbai, the city’s people-first civic initiative, to launch ‘Turning Pages’ — a programme that transforms select Cityflo buses into moving mini-libraries. Commuters can now read, borrow and exchange books during their daily office journeys. The collaboration reflects Cityflo’s aim to make commutes more meaningful and Project Mumbai’s mission to build a stronger reading culture across the city.

The initiative is part of Project Mumbai’s broader ‘Read Mumbai’ movement, which encourages citizens to embrace books amid fast-paced urban life. Through Turning Pages, Cityflo offers passengers a rare uninterrupted stretch of the day to step away from screens, pause and reconnect with reading — adding value to what is often treated as lost time.

As a pilot, a select number of Cityflo buses will carry a curated collection spanning fiction, business, self-development, biographies and contemporary Indian writing. Commuters can pick a book for the journey, donate titles to grow the onboard library, and recommend reads for fellow passengers, creating a shared community resource that travels with the city.

Speaking on the partnership, Sankalp Kelshikar, CMO & Co-founder, Cityflo, said: “The commute is often the only stretch of the day a Mumbaikar has entirely to themselves. Through our collaboration with Project Mumbai, we’re giving that time back to something most of us struggle to make room for — reading. The books onboard, donated by the Project Mumbai community, offer our customers access to a variety of great reads and new ideas on their daily journey, and give them the opportunity to pay it forward with their own book donations on the bus.”

Shishir Joshi, CEO and Founder of Project Mumbai, added: “For us at Project Mumbai, this initiative with Cityflo binds three critical elements. Tapping into the energy of Mumbaikars, who are known to always be on the move; a dash of collaborative philanthropy through partnerships that this city thrives on; and building on the goodness of citizens, thus making Mumbai the Kindness Capital of India.”

Together, Cityflo and Project Mumbai aim to show how small, thoughtful interventions can enrich everyday urban life — bringing mobility, culture and community together, one journey at a time.
