Even Healthcare sets up a first-of-its-kind medical board to strengthen its clinical protocols and delivery outcomes

  • Even’s medical board brings together a team of globally celebrated multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals to bring the best medical practices and standards to the Indian healthcare ecosystem.
  • The board will help Even design care guidelines based on global clinical protocols, such as the NICE guidelines in England, to improve clinical outcomes for its members by making care effective and efficient.
  • The board consists of medical experts from fields across neurology, physiology, internal medicine, nursing, healthcare management, consulting, and health information technology.

Chennai: Bengaluru-based healthcare provider, Even, which recently raised additional funding of $15 million, has instituted a medical board consisting of globally celebrated healthcare professionals to oversee its clinical protocols in a bid to make primary care as good and efficient as in high-income countries.

The board will take stock of the best clinical practices around the world and help Even doctors design care guidelines for members that result in marked positive patient outcomes.

With this, Even hopes to design a blueprint for evidence-based care in India and show what good care looks like. The closest example of what the healthcare provider is trying to do is the NICE guidelines in England that help healthcare professionals prevent illnesses in patients using the best available evidence for specific conditions in specific people living a specific type of lifestyle.

This board will oversee these practices alongside Even doctors and evolve its care programmes to the highest standards.

Even has inducted Dr. Martin Gilbert, Senior Advisor to the Global Healthcare practice at The Boston Consulting Group in California, Dr. Abha Agarwal, Chief Medical Officer at Humboldt  Park Health in Chicago, Dr. Archit C Bhatt, Managing Director at Providence Stroke Centre in Portland, Col Binu Sharma, Senior Director at Max Healthcare Institute Ltd in Delhi and Dr Umesh M. Sharma, Managing Director at the Mayo Clinic in New York to its diverse medical board.

Collectively, the highly qualified team of medical professionals has extensive expertise in healthcare, including neurology, physiology, internal medicine, nursing, healthcare management, consulting, and health IT.

Speaking about Even Healthcare’s medical board, Mayank Banerjee, CEO and Co-founder at Even said, “Since our inception, we have been laser focussed on preventive and guided primary care, a severely overlooked part of the healthcare system in India. Healthcare costs and mortality rates rise when primary care is inadequate or ignored. Our board helps us in building a trustworthy healthcare delivery model in India without putting a disproportionate financial burden on people.”

“With the setting up of the board, we hope to show to our members we are seriously committed to their health and have enough self-regulation in place to ensure that our desire for profits does not override their quality of care”, he further added.

Founded by Mayank Banerjee, Matilde Giglio, and Alessandro Davide Ialongo in January 2020, Even Healthcare offers subscription-based plans that include free consultations, free tests, and cashless hospitalisation across India. Its clinical team designs personalised managed care programmes to keep members healthy and out of hospitals.

Recently, Even Healthcare secured an additional funding of US $15 million led by Alpha Wave and Lightrock. With total funding of US $20 million, the company plans to expand its operations across India and become a “family doctor” to its members by encouraging them to proactively manage their health.
