New Delhi : Fujifilm India, a pioneer in photographic devices and electronic imaging, today announced the launch of two new lenses – “FUJINON XF56mmF1.2 R WR” (XF56mmF1.2 R WR) and XF30mmF2.8 R LM WR Macro in India. Both lenses will be a new addition to the lineup of interchangeable XF lenses designed for the X Series of mirrorless digital cameras, which are renowned for their compact, lightweight design and outstanding image quality delivered with Fujifilm’s proprietary color reproduction technology. With additions of these lenses, we have a total of 40 lenses which are compatible with the X Series cameras.

The XF56mmF1.2 R WR is a fast prime lens with a mid-telephoto focal length of 56mm (equivalent to 85mm in the 35mm format). It succeeds the popular F1.2 open aperture of its predecessor (FUJINON Lens XF56mmF1.2 R; the “previous model”) but features significant improvement in minimum focusing distance of 50 cm, image-resolving performance, and beautiful rendering of out-of-focus background. Areas in focus show every detail in high resolution, while its open aperture can produce beautiful bokeh in the background to make the subject stand out, giving added definitions to the image. The previous model was useful for portrait photography due to its F1.2 open aperture and mid-telephoto characteristics. The new lens, however, has improved minimum focusing distance to facilitate table-top photography, and can also cater to a wide variety of shooting situations including street photography. Enjoy the appeal of the fast mid-telephoto lens, delivering incredible subject sharpness contrasted against beautiful bokeh in the background to direct the attention right to the subject.

The XF30mmF2.8 R LM WR Macro is a standard prime lens with a focal length of 30mm (equivalent to 46mm in the 35mm film format). Compared to conventional standard lenses, this product has a substantially-reduced minimum working distance of 3.9inches and greatly-improved close-up performance, capable of macro photography at a 1:1 magnification ratio. Despite being a highly versatile standard lens, it has virtually no constraint in terms of working distance from a subject matter. The ability to shoot dynamic true 1:1 macro photography means users can enjoy tabletop photography of going up close and personal to a subject in front of them in limited space, as well as a wide range of categories including portraiture and snapshots that take advantage of natural perspectives. The lens’s compact design makes it possible to take maximum advantage of X Series’ portability, offering unconstrained photographic experiences.

The XF56mmF1.2 R WR is priced at a MRP of Rs 104,999 and XF30mmF2.8 R Macro is priced at a MRP of Rs 61,999. Both lenses will be available at Fujifilm-authorized retailers.

Product features of XF56mmF1.2 R WR

(1) Outstanding image-resolving performance and stunning bokeh

・Metal mold processed in advanced precision to the tune of one-hundred thousandth of a millimeter is used to manufacture aspherical elements, capable of reducing the onion-ring effect in bokeh. The lens design, consisting of 13 elements in eight groups including two aspherical elements and one ED element, suppresses various types of aberration including chromatic aberration and spherical aberration to achieve edge-to-edge image sharpness and smooth bokeh in the off-focus background.

・The lens also uses three high-refractive elements, which are used in cinema lenses due to their effectiveness in aberration control, as part of the focusing group of eight elements to minimize chromatic aberration and comatic aberration for advanced image resolution from MOD to infinity.

・This is the first Fujifilm lens to use 11 diaphragm blades to achieve a near-perfect circle in the aperture (*1). Compared to the seven-blade aperture of the previous model, the new model provides a near-perfect circle even when the lens is stopped down only slightly from being wide open to create beautiful bokeh in a wide range of situations.

  (2) Unrestrained photographic approach with the fast mid-telephoto lens

・The new lens, with the mid-telephoto 56mm focal length (equivalent to 85mm in the 35mm format) and the open aperture of F1.2, is a perfect choice for portraiture to give clear separation to the subject from its background. In addition, the minimum focusing distance has been reduced to just 50cm (*2), 20cm shorter than the previous model, thanks to improved resolving capability at MOD. The reduced distance constraint in relation to the subject allows users to enjoy the appeal of this fast mid-telephoto prime in a greater variety of situations not limited to portrait photography.

*2 Distance from the sensor surface; The minimum distance from the front end of the lens is approximately 41cm.

(3) AF function driven by an evolved DC motor for fast and accurate autofocus

•A DC motor is used to drive the focusing group of eight elements and aperture unit for precise autofocusing, complementing the XF56mm F1.2 R WR’s advanced image resolution from MOD to infinity. The lens can attain focus quickly and accurately to seize a decisive photo opportunity even when shooting with a shallow depth-of-field, in which accurate focusing is essential.

•The use of a bearing mechanism has successfully reduced friction that arises when the DC motor is driving lens elements. The minimization of lens-driving friction means reduced motor noise.

(4) Advanced practical usability with dust- and weather-resistance and capability of operating at temperatures as low as -10°C

•The lens is design to take maximum advantage of the compact and lightweight X Mount System, weighting just 445g and measuring 76mm despite being a fast prime lens with the open aperture of F1.2. It reduces users’ strains in walking around with the lens mounted on a camera, adding an extra sense of mobility.

•The lens barrel is weather-sealed in 9 places to ensure dust- and weather-resistance as well as the ability to operate at temperatures as low as -10°C. The front lens element is applied with fluorine coating to repel water and offer protection against stains. This means users can enjoy the lens with peace of mind to take photos outdoors in light rain or in dusty places.

Product features of FUJINON Lens XF30mmF2.8 R LM WR Macro

(1) Enabling macro photograph to expand the standard lens’s scope of applications

・The lens’s design, consists of 11 elements in nine groups including three aspherical elements and two ED elements, controls various forms of aberration including chromatic aberration, spherical aberration and field curvature to deliver advanced image-resolving performance. The standard 30mm focal length (equivalent to 46mm in the 35mm film format), which is close to the field of view for humans, makes it an ideal choice for portraiture and snapshots in natural perspectives.

・The minimum working distance of 10cm and the maximum magnification ratio of 1:1 (equivalent to 1.5x in the 35mm film format) means users are liberated from distance constraints from the subject. Enjoy photographic expressions, much more unconstrained and diverse than with conventional standard lenses, such as snapshots that go up close and personal to the subject, and tabletop photography taken in limited space.

(2) Use of a linear motor and a compact lightweight design to achieve fast and accurate autofocus

・The lens uses the Inner Focus system, in which a compact and lightweight focusing lens group is driven by a linear motor to attain accurate focus in as fast as 0.02 seconds (*2). The Inner Focus system generally involves a large number of elements, increasing the length of the lens. However, this lens is lightweight and weighs only 195 gm and measures just 69.5mm, thanks to the optimized placement and shape of aspherical elements. The system ensures that the standard lens captures a decisive photo moment in a variety of situations. The linear motor’s advanced resolution capability ensures focusing accuracy even in macro photography with a very shallow depth of field.

・The optimization of optical design and production processes has reduced barrel parts in the lens mechanism to successfully achieve a compact form factor. Metal is used for parts that come in contact with a user during lens operation to add a touch of elegance, while other components have been reviewed thoroughly to reduce weight. The result is a compact and lightweight lens weighing 195g and measuring 69.5mm in length with a filter thread size of 43mm. It can be left attached to a camera as a standard walkaround lens as it causes minimum strain to users, making their photographic experience more comfortable than ever before.

*2 Using an internal measurement method compliant with the CIPA Guidelines, when mounted on the mirrorless digital camera “FUJIFILM X-T4” with Phase Detection AF activated and the High-Performance Mode turned ON.

(3) Dust and weather-resistant structure capable of operating at low temperatures for advanced practical usability

•The lens barrel is weather-sealed in nine places so that it is dust and weather-resistant and can be used in temperatures as low as -10℃. This lens can be kept mounted on a camera as a standard lens with peace of mind, allowing users to continue shooting even outdoors in light rain or in a dusty environment.
