Global Learning Charter Public School Band Earns a Silver Medal at the Great East Music Festival

Global Learning Charter Public School (GLCPS), a tuition-free public charter school that currently services 500 students in grades 5-12, recently announced that the school band earned a silver medal in the Great East Music Festival held at Six Flags New England.

The high school band included one 8th grade student and two 7th grade students who traveled out to Six Flags New England to perform with other school bands. For almost 40 years, Great East Music Festivals has provided high quality, engaging, and memorable scholastic festival performance opportunities to schools across New England and beyond. The festivals emphasize exceptional adjudication and constructive educational clinics.

“We enjoy the band’s performances here at school and in the community and this was a wonderful opportunity for them to take on a bigger stage,” said Dr. Stephen Furtado, Executive Director of GLPCS. “Winning a silver medal is a great accomplishment and feedback and experience brings great value to our students as individual musicians and together as a band.”

GLCPS is currently renovating a historic building located at 106 Bullard Street in New Bedford creating “One School, One Campus.”
