Goa Institute of Management (GIM) to host debate on Futures Thinking in the Indian Healthcare Sector

The healthcare sector has been at the centre of discussions over the past two years. Health policy, governance, finance, technology, and other verticals of the healthcare system have been in mainstream conversations, with a lot of questions for the future.

In an effort to understand how we can be prepared better for the future, premier B-school Goa Institute of Management (GIM), is hosting its 3rd Annual Healthcare Management Conference on the theme – Futures Thinking in Indian Healthcare.

Scheduled to be held on 22nd Jan in the virtual mode, the conference will provide opportunities for deliberation, reflection, and ideation on the way ahead for the Indian healthcare sector. The conference will witness a confluence of the brightest and most experienced minds in polity and industry who will engage in critical discussions on health policy, governance, finance, technology, and related matters.

Dr. Sohail Inayatullah, political scientist and UNESCO Chair in Future Studies at Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity, Malaysia will be the keynote speaker. His speech is titled ‘Better than a Crystal Ball- Health Futures in Transition’, where he would talk about how to achieve the desirable future in Indian healthcare.

The panel discussions address aspects related to key stakeholders in the health system- the first one is on the state of affairs in the health industry, the second panel discussion would be on the role of start-ups in healthcare accelerating the growth, and the third panel revolves around the role played by organizations like GIM in creating knowledge for this complex sector. The discussions will focus on how stakeholders can transform the model to make healthcare affordable, accessible, and relevant in keeping with the changing times. The panel discussions will serve as a platform for sharing experiences and drawing out a roadmap for future collaborations to transform the model of healthcare delivery and understand the current trends in the domain of Indian healthcare start-ups.

The first session will include speakers Dr. Om Prakash Manchanda, Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, Dr. Anupam Sibal, Mr. Sanjiv Navangul, Mr. Sandeep Makkar, Mr. Milind Thatte and the session would be moderated by Mr. Anjan Bose, former President of Philips Healthcare and Consumer Lifestyle. The second-panel discussion moderated by GIM director, Prof. Ajit Parulekar, will have in attendance Mr. Amit Mookim, Mr. Vivek Srivastava, Dr. Ramjee Pallela, and Mr. Rahul Paith.

The last of the sessions will be moderated by Dr. Kheya Furtado, Associate Professor at GIM and will have Dr. Prabal Vikram Singj, Dr. Krishna Reddy, Ms. Sharanya Chandran, Associate Director, and Dr. Rana Mehta.
