Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth to hold 2nd Annual Ride for Homes Motorcycle Run on May 7th
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth is holding its 2nd Annual “Ride for Homes” motorcycle run fundraiser on Saturday, May 7th. Riders will take in a scenic loop course that begins and ends at VFW Post 2188 in Middleboro, located at 12 Station Street. Following the ride, participants will enjoy festivities including music, lunch, raffles and more on the VFW lawn.
Walk-in registration begins at 10 AM on-site and the ride will kick-off promptly at 12 Noon. Advance online registration for participants is encouraged, but not required, via www.givebutter.com/rideforhomes. The cost is $20 per motorcycle driver, and $10 per passenger.
The event is sponsored in part by Dennison Lubricants, and HFHGP is currently seeking additional sponsors to support the cause. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth’s initiatives to build and repair affordable homes in their service area of Plymouth, Carver, Kingston, Middleboro, Lakeville and Plympton.
The organization, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has just begun a significant home renovation project in Plymouth for the family of a young woman who has suffered loss of mobility and vision due to contracting Stevens Johnson Syndrome, a rare disease caused by severe reaction to prescribed medication.
Due to the pandemic, HFHGP was forced to table the Ride for Homes for two years, after successfully hosting the motorcycle run in 2019, which drew nearly 175 riders. “After the challenges of the last couple of years, we’re very glad to be able to host in-person events like the Ride again and we’re looking forward to a great day in Middleboro” said Jim Middleton, Executive Director. “We’re tremendously grateful to Dennison Lubricants and any sponsor who steps forward to support our efforts to make affordable housing available in the community.”
