HINDUSTANI SARANGI, a lecture demonstration at the Indian Music Experience Museum

The Sarangi is a bowed instrument originating in the Indian subcontinent. With roots stretching back over three centuries, the Sarangi has been a key part of classical, folk, and Sufi musical traditions. Traditionally played by the nomadic community of musicians, the Sarangi has evolved into a prominent accompaniment and solo instrument in Hindustani Classical Music, revered for its ability to emulate the nuances of the human voice.

Join us on Thursday, June 29th, from 6.00 PM to 7.30 PM for a lecture demonstration by Sarangi artist Harsh Narayan. As a descendant and disciple of Sarangi maestro Pandit Ram Narayan, Harsh will share his insights into the journey of the Sarangi, from its role as an accompanying instrument to its status as a solo concert instrument in the Hindustani Classical Music Tradition. He will be accompanied on the Tabla by Kedarnath Havaldar.

The program is open to all and seating is on a first come first serve basis.
