Kansai Nerolac Unveils Stunning Varanasi Makeover

Vibrant Hues and Captivating Artistry transform the City

Mumbai: Kansai Nerolac Paints Limited, one of India’s leading paint companies, announces the successful completion of its ambitious painting project in the historical city of Varanasi, under their Paint My City initiative. Authorised by the Varanasi Development Authority, this extensive initiative was aimed at revitalising key landmarks across Varanasi, including Varanasi Kashi Dham, Godowalia Market, Bharat Seva Ashram, and the Babtpur Flyover; spanning (Whole Varanasi city) a total distance of 25 km. The project follows the equally impressive initiative in the city of Ayodhya. The initiative was part of a government-led beautification project in preparation of the G20 summit in India.

The project, completed in record 9 months, involves painting and restoration of the temples, ghats, and other architectural treasures that define the spiritual essence of Varanasi and its surrounding areas. It includes three iconic areas like the Babtpur Flyover, the 18 km stretch that connects the Varanasi Airport; Bharat Seva Ashram, established in 1926; and Godwalia Market, Varanasi’s oldest and most loved market. Kansai Nerolac also was responsible for refurbishing the pathway connecting the Kashi Vishwananth corridor from Lahurabir to Piplani Katra, and further to Mahdagin Chauraha.

Driven by a commitment to environmental sustainability, Kansai Nerolac has chosen eco-friendly paints like Nerolac Excel Anti Peel Exterior Acrylic Emulsion for this project. The colour was specifically chosen for its high performance and longevity, and to reflect a harmonious blend of tradition and contemporary design, which complement Varanasi’s timeless charm and its urban progress.

The project underscores the overarching theme of ‘transformation, which can be witnessed in all ‘Paint My City’ projects of Kansai Nerolac.  Through meticulous planning and utilising premium quality paints, Kansai Nerolac aim was to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the holy Varanasi city.

With a legacy of over 100 years, Nerolac is honoured to have been a part of the effort to restore and revitalise this sacred city. The ‘Paint My City’ project seeks to breathe new life into Varanasi’s urban landscape, creating a lasting impact that resonates with both residents and visitors alike.
