Kids at their Creative Best on Making Sunday into Funday in the Finale of Children’ s Literature, Arts and Music Festival
Bhopal The third and concluding day of ‘Get Set Parent with Pallavi,’ the country’s biggest Children’s Literature, Art, and Music Festival, co-organised with Vishwarang 2022, started with children’s performance, ‘Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai’. Dr Pallavi Rao Chaturvedi, Director, and founder of Get Set Parent provided the perfect platform for kids to learn different skills with fun. The 3-day-long event witnessed around 15000+ footfalls of students, teachers, and parents of 50+ schools.
Learn to be Human First
The author from Karadi Tales, Riddhi Maniar Doda, started the session by interacting with children. While explaining gender stereotyping, she said it is when society asks to do something in a certain way. She also taught the kids to lead a life of their choice. The author used toys to narrate the story of ‘the boy who wore bangles.’ She played interesting games and dandiya with children on the stage. Students from different schools thoroughly enjoyed the activities with her.
Doodle with Kavita Dicholkar to Keep Body and Mind Active
“Doodle is a rough drawing of anything,” explained the mentor. The educator exhibited different patterns one can use to doodle, like lines, dots, and curves, without using any scales. Kids enjoyed the session and did doodling.
The Art of Accepting Ourselves
Sahitya Akademi’s 2015 Bal Sahitya Puraskar winner Sowmya Rajendran held a story reading and interactive session. She gave information about South India and shared her childhood experiences on how she wanted to look taller by wearing heels and how that inspired her to write a story about an elephant who disliked his appearance. At the end of the story, the students learnt how to be comfortable with their looks. She also narrated a story in a musical manner titled ‘Rickshawala’.
Soaking in the Knowledge of Different States Art
Children had an opportunity to explore artwork from various states of India. They saw Rock Art Exhibition, Bheel Painting Exhibition, and Gond Bheel Paintings, where artisans demonstrated their art in live sessions. Kids saw Gobar Shilp Art arranged by Mahima Pandey and were amused to learn about cow dung products. They enthusiastically gained knowledge of Organic and Khadi products in the stall by Jeevan Singh Kalanjiya and Ajit Prajapati. Children visited other stalls from Gujarat, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Rajasthan.
Musical Storytelling Session by Dramebaaz Company
In this session, Garima Arya, Founder-Director of Dramabaaz Company, narrated a story with a soft toy while Kamleshwar Verma played the guitar. Both encouraged children to sing and play the guitar. Nidhi Vyas joined as a clown. Kids also learnt the importance of ‘save water’.
Puppet Show by Satyajit Ramdas Pandey
Satyajit explained the mechanics behind puppets and finger movements in this session. Puppets danced to songs and entertained kids. He also produced different sounds without moving his lips. The children were enlightened and enjoyed the session.
Traditional Hand Blocks and Prints by Vinod Malevyar
A traditional textile print designer Vinod from Dharohar, Hand Block Print Studio, enlightened kids about hand block printing. It is a technique that uses carved patterns and designs on a wooden block, first dipped in paint and then pressed on the cloth to form beautiful designs. Children were invited in groups to block paint on white t-shirts.
Resin Art: An addition to the Skillset
There was no age restriction, adults also tried their hands on Resin Art, under the guidance of Radhika Fatehpuria. Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi and Megna Rao, with others participated in the Resin Art workshop. The finished product looks like a glass showpiece with blue and white waves.
In the grand closing ceremony, Dr. Pallavi Rao Chaturvedi proposed vote of thanks to all the members of the organising team and facilitated Minad Adhikari, Shashank Mishra, Yuvraj and Chitra Kala team. She also thanked parents for their endless support to children. Cheerful people were looking forward to the next round of the Get Set Parent Festival.
