KIMSHEALTH holds awareness campaign on World Stroke Day

-Flash mobs held across parts of capital-

Thiruvananthapuram : As part of World Stroke Day, KIMSHEALTH organised an awareness programme – ‘City Fast’ – across various parts of the city. More than 50 students of KIMS College of Nursing organised an awareness skit and a flash mob as part of the event. Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School, LBS Institute of Technology for Women Poojappura, UST Campus, Digital University of Kerala and KIMSHEALTH campus were among the venues of the campaign.

The programme, relevant in these times of increased incidences of stroke, aims to stress the need for timely action of rushing stroke-affected patients to a hospital offering expert treatment. The response to the campaign was overwhelming.

Cyber Security Sub-Division Assistant Commissioner Hari CS in his inaugural address appreciated KIMSHEALTH for going beyond mere observance of Stroke Day and added that the lessons of the awareness campaign will linger. It is important to be vigilant and timely treatment to save such patients. While staying healthy is vital, we also need to focus on ensuring the right treatment, he added.

“Patients and those around them often don’t understand the value of time and should recognise that time is the most important factor in stroke treatment,” stressed KIMSHEALTH Chairman and Managing Director Dr. M I Sahadulla in his presidential address. He lauded the services of traffic police who brought patients to the hospital on time. He pointed out that despite Kerala being in the forefront of education, people often do not realise the importance of healthcare and in ensuring timely treatment. He added that expert treatment for stroke is vital.

Dr. Suresh Chandran, Senior Consultant and Chief Coordinator of Department of Neurology, KIMSHEALTH delivered the stroke day message. Dr. Shyamlal S, Senior Consultant and Academic Coordinator of KIMSHEALTH Department of Neurology welcomed the gathering and KIMSHEALTH CEO Jerry Philip delivered the vote of thanks.
