Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra Hosted a High-Level Bilateral Meeting for Landmark US$4 Billion Burkina Faso Infrastructure Project
Kolkata — Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra (KBSK), a leading local authority and implementing agency under the Government of India’s National 20-Point Programme, hosted a high-level bilateral meeting today, marking the formal commencement of a transformative US$4 Billion Infrastructure Development Project in Burkina Faso.
The initiative represents a significant milestone in India-Africa development cooperation and aligns with the vision of “Viksit Bharat” championed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The project aims to strengthen international partnerships while fostering sustainable socio-economic development through large-scale infrastructure investment.
The strategic meeting focussed on finalizing implementation frameworks, Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) structures across GIFT City (India), Mauritius, and Burkina Faso, and the deployment of foundational project equity. Discussions will also establish key operational and governance mechanisms necessary for the successful execution of the project.

A distinguished delegation from the Government of Burkina Faso attended the meeting, including two senior state representatives traveling to India exclusively for this engagement. Their participation reflects the strong commitment of both nations toward building a robust framework for infrastructure-led growth and development.
The event saw eminent personalities and strategic leaders, including Mr. Vibhav Kant Upadhyay, Founder and Chairman of the India Center Foundation and a key architect of the India-Japan Global Partnership, attending the meeting as the Chief Guest. Renowned journalist Mr. Niladri Banerjee and senior leadership from KBSK, along with other distinguished dignitaries from public and private sectors graced the occasion with their presence.
Speaking on the occasion, KBSK leadership emphasized that the project symbolizes a new chapter in international cooperation, combining Indian expertise in project implementation with Africa’s growing infrastructure aspirations. The initiative is expected to contribute significantly to housing, urban development, employment generation, and economic empowerment in Burkina Faso.
