Maruti Suzuki’s 4th Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM) at Sonipat commences admissions for the first batch

Chennai: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (“Maruti Suzuki”) has opened admissions for the first batch at its newly commissioned JIM at Master Atul Govt. ITI in Sonipat, Haryana. The first batch at JIM Sonipat can accommodate over 100 students across four trades: namely Mechanic Motor Vehicle (MMV), Machinist, Welder, and Fitter. The session will begin in September 2025. Maruti Suzuki has allocated an amount of ₹10 crore for setting up JIM Sonipat.
Affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and accredited by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan, JIM Sonipat will follow a dual system of training that combines theoretical learning with practical on-the-job training. The program will follow NCVT curriculum. Additionally, it will include essential training in safety, quality, discipline, kaizen, and other acclaimed Japanese manufacturing practices relevant to the automobile manufacturing industry.

This is in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s ‘Skill India Mission’ and I applaud Maruti Suzuki’s efforts in this space.”
Elaborating on the initiative, Mr. Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki said, “We are committed to supporting the Government of India’s ‘Skill India Mission’ by training youth and making them industry ready. After setting up our first JIM in Haryana at Uncha Majra, we are thankful to the Government of Haryana for providing us the opportunity to set up the second JIM in the state. We are confident that both JIMs will prepare the students for opportunities across the automobile ecosystem and contribute to progress of Haryana.”
Mr. Bharti added, “By incorporating principles of safety, quality, and the acclaimed Japanese practices of discipline and continuous improvement, JIM Sonipat will not only enhance employability but also inculcate progressive work ethic among the students.”
As part of the Memorandum of Agreement to set up JIM Sonipat, the Government of Haryana has provided the land and building, while Maruti Suzuki has upgraded civil infrastructure, provided equipment, set up an assembly line for real-life simulation, designed training modules, and will manage the overall operations.
