NeighborWorks Housing Solutions Raises Record-Amount – over $300,000 – at “Opening Doors, Changing Lives” Gala

KINGSTON, QUINCY, BROCKTON, NEW BEDFORD, TAUNTON, MA ISSUED NOVEMBER 22, 2022…NeighborWorks Housing Solutions (NHS; www.nhsmass.org), the leading housing service provider in southern Massachusetts, raised more than $300,000 – and more than $100,000 over its anticipated goal – during its recent “Opening Doors, Changing Lives” Gala, held at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy on Thursday, November 3.

Funds raised at the gala will support the programs and people served by NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, including affordable housing, home-buyer education, resources, emergency shelter, small business and home modification loans, homelessness prevention services, housing counseling, and so much more.  NHS has been providing these services to the community for more than 40 years and will continue to do so thanks in part to the proceeds from the gala.

Guests were treated to a  fully in-person event, which began with a cocktail reception featuring fun and lively games such as cornhole, a punchbowl game, and a putt-putt game that played homage to the NHS spring-time Mulligan golf tournament.  The gala also featured a one-of-a-kind silent auction, the very popular “bar in a barrow” raffle, delicious dinner, and engaging program where NHS clients were able to share their stories of overcoming challenges and finding stability.

NeighborWorks Housing Solutions was honored to host this year’s Opening Doors, Changing Lives Gala, in partnership, with NEI General Contracting, who made a transformative commitment to the event and helping NHS surpass their fundraising goal.  NHS has enjoyed a strong partnership with NEI and has collaborated with them on numerous projects, including a new 72-unit affordable housing development for seniors located in Holbrook, which is due to open in the Spring of 2023, and The Sycamore on Main, 48 units of workforce housing in Brockton.  The Sycamore on Main is also home to the Brockton Beer Company, one of the first minority-owned, woman-owned breweries in southern Massachusetts.

In addition to NEI General Contracting, Silicon Valley Bank was the Presenting Sponsor, and Bank of Canton, Curtis Construction, and Dellbrook JKS stepped up again as this year’s Platinum Sponsors.

“This year’s gala was a truly amazing show of commitment from our biggest supporters, and we are so grateful,” said Robert Corley, CEO of NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, noting that the event was the most successful to date. “Having access to safe and affordable housing continues to be a challenge for so many in our region; the funds raised from this gala will help so many  seniors, families, veterans, those with special needs, and formerly homeless individuals have a safe and affordable place to call home.”
