Sreenidhi University Telangana Premier Golf League, formally launched by unveiling of the iconic trophy depicting Kakatiya Gate!
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Golf Association – one of Country’s premier golf courses; formally launched the First Edition of “SREENIDHI UNIVERSITY TELANGANA PREMIER GOLF LEAGUE by unveiling of the League trophy. The trophy was unveiled by Shri K S Sreenivasa Raju, IAS, Secretary to Government (Tourism & Culture), YAT&C Department, Government of Telangana, at an event held today at HGA. The trophy has been designed to depict the rich culture and heritage of Telangana, exquisitely crafted in the form of the iconic Kakatiya Gate.
The league sponsored by Sreenidhi University and powered by Magnifiq Securities and NMDC; will be played in 8 rounds in different formats spread over five weeks, with 16 teams having 12 players each. Starting from September 12th, 2021, at HGA Golf Course, the league will be played in a Matchplay format with 5 Rounds at league stage and 3 Rounds of Knock out/playoff matches of Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals. The League concludes with a Final Play-off rounds and Prize Distribution on Oct 9th, 2021.
A tournament on the lines of a league will heighten interest in Golf and popularize the sport. The Telangana Premier Golf League is thoughtful and an excellent initiative of Hyderabad Golf Association, it will pull in more followers for Golf with several ultimately taking to the game. A league of this stature will enable HGA to a trend setter in the country and become a popular destination for avid golfers from India and abroad in the times to come, says Shri K S Sreenivasa Raju.
Golf, an Olympic sport has been gaining immense traction among sports enthusiasts and the recent performance of Indian golfer Aditi Rao at the Olympics has only amplified the fascination for the game. Hyderabad Golf Association has been proactively promoting the Course and the Game in Telangana, over the years, and this recent interest in it gives further impetus to our initiative. The Telangana Premier Golf League has been designed to foster greateri nterest in the sport and Hyderabad Golf Association is working towards making it an exciting platform for a competitive golfing experience, says Dayakar Reddy, President, Hyderabad Golf Association.
