Suffering from slip disc at 4 levels, 28-year-old patient undergoes endoscopic spine surgery at the CK Birla Hospital

New Delhi : Furthering the commitment to strengthening delivery of global standards of clinical excellence, the CK Birla Hospital® successfully conducted an endoscopic spine surgery on a young patient from Tamil Nadu who was suffering with 4 level (L2 to S1) slip disc. The 28-year-old was unable to walk due to severe spine issues and was recommended open spine surgery which would result in large scars, blood transfusions and increased post-operative care.
Upon further evaluation at the CK Birla Hospital®, the team of doctors led by Dr. Ashwani Maichand, Department of Orthopaedics recommended Endoscopic Spine Surgery (ESS). ESS is a surgical procedure using micro-sized incisions (less than 1 inch) and small tubular systems in combination with an endoscope to visualize the surgical field.
