Team Civet Rangers; Team Mysa; Glendale golfers & Apollo Cancer Crusaders finish among the top four at the Sreenidhi University Telangana Premier Golf League 2021!
Hyderabad: The quarterly knockout round of the SREENIDHI UNIVERSITY TELANGANA PREMIER GOLF LEAGUE 2021, was held on Tuesday, October 5th 2021 at the Hyderabad Golf Association golf course. The league sponsored by Sreenidhi University and powered by Magnifiq Securities, HDFC and NMDC; has 5 qualifying Rounds in the league stage. The two teams qualifying from each division play in the 3 Rounds of Knock out/playoff matches of Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals.
The Quarterly knockout round was played in both Single & Doubles format with 4 singles matches and 2 doubles matches for a total of 6 points. The 8 teams which qualified for the quarter finals were Civet Rangers; Apollo Cancer Crusaders; Devpixel Devils; Team Mysa Classic Champs; Sreenidhi Thunderbolts; Villaggio Highlanders and Glendale Golfers. A total of 64 golfers (8 from each team) played the round.
Team Civet Rangers beat Sreenidhi Thunderbolts 4-2;
Team Mysa beat Villaggio Highlanders 4-2;
Glendale golfers beat Devpixel Devils 4-2.
The match between Apollo Cancer Crusaders and Classic Champs tied at 3-3 and eventually won on a nail-biting sudden death tie breaker.
The quarterly final round saw some intense and high-level golf. Dr. Vijayanand Reddy, Ashok Reddy and Bhushan of Apollo Cancer Crusaders won their singles matches but ended up with a tie with their opponents Classic Champs. Both teams secured 3 points each. As per the terms of Competition, one player from each team is designated to play the tie breaker on the 1st & 18th hole where the aggregate lower score wins the match. In the event this too is tied, the match goes into sudden death. After playing two holes the match continued to be tied with one win each. The round was eventually won by Apollo Cancer crusaders in a nail-biting sudden death finish thanks to the phenomenal finish by Dr. Vijayanand Reddy.
The doubles pair of Siva Reddy & Manikanta and Capt. Sameer & Muthyam Reddy of Civet Rangers won their doubles thereby contributing 2 points. Sridhar Reddy & Ram Mohan won their Single matches adding 2 points to the team total of 4 points thereby beating their opponents Sreenidhi Thunderbolts.
Madhav Kota, Vasu Merugu. Gaurav Ahulwalia & Abhijay Jaiswal of team Mysa won their singles matches adding 4 points and beating their opponents Villaggio Highlanders.
The doubles pair of Rama Rao & Sri Mumma Reddy and KVSN Reddy & Nageshwar Rao won their doubles, contributing 2 points while Ahmed & Raj Gaddam got 1 point each in singles thereby beating their opponents Devpixel Devils
On completion of the quarter final, four teams made it to the semi-finals where Glendale will play against Apollo Cancer Crusaders and Team Mysa will play against Civet Rangers. The Semi-finals will be played on October 7th.
The league is poised for an intense level of competition in the semi-finals where two winners will qualify for the finals to be played October 9th followed by a gala prize distribution event.
