The Indian Music Experience Museum (IME) presents – Drawing Parallels: Adapting and Adopting Ragas Across Karnatik and Hindustani Music
Bangalore: The Indian Music Experience (IME) presents Drawing Parallels: Adapting and Adopting Ragas Across Karnatik and Hindustani Music; a masterclass with Dr Sriram Parasuram. Dr Sriram Parasuram is a distinguished musician and has come from a family deeply rooted in musical heritage. A child prodigy who has evolved into a renowned musician and musicologist, he has traveled extensively, delivering captivating vocal and violin performances worldwide.
The intricate ornamentations, gamakas, and improvisational elements that define Karnatik music find their counterpart in the rich, emotive elaboration of ragas in Hindustani music. While Hindustani focuses on the raga-vistar (slow elaboration) through alaap, Karnatik emphasizes rhythmic precision and intricate tala patterns.
