Superstar Ajay Devgn is gearing to play the role of a fierce cop on a mission; however, this time, it will be for his debut in a series, Hostar Specials’ Rudra – The Edge of Darkness. Helmed by ace director Rajesh Mapuskar, this riveting psychological crime drama will be released on 4th March on Disney+ Hotstar. The six-episode series is an Indian take on the successful British series – Luther. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India, the crime drama features a stellar cast, including Raashi Khanna, Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tarun Gahlot, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Satyadeep Misra in pivotal roles. Rudra – The Edge of Darkness, an engaging dark and gritty crime-drama series, will bring a compelling narrative and powerful characters. It is a dark and complex narrative that is a distinctive race-against-the-clock thriller delving into the psyche of brilliant criminal masterminds and the detective who hunts them.
Talking about the series being adapted from the popular International series, Luther, Ajay Devgn said, “I can’t say that Rudra – The Edge of Darkness will be at par with Luther. It could be better also! When action is concerned, this show depicts a very different kind of action – it has more drama, suspense, and thrill for the audience, making it very interesting. I hope it’s better than the original.”
Excited for his first-ever OTT series, Ajay Devgn further added, “My job is to entertain people. The platform doesn’t matter at all. I definitely love the big screen. Now in my personal time, I watch a lot of OTT, and I love it. Post the pandemic also, it is multiplying much more. So it doesn’t matter at all if you are in OTT, or on the big screen. There are so many new things to explore in both! Moreover, I had a lovely time with the entire team of Rudra. It was amazing to work with them.”
