Women From Karnataka Spent More Online in 2023 vs 2022: Simpl Checkout Scan

Karnataka: An increasing number of women from Karnataka are turning to online platforms to fulfil their diverse needs affordably and conveniently via Simpl’s 1-Tap or Instant Checkout in 2023 over 2022, according to Simpl Checkout Scan. This mirrors the national trend where women posted a 61% growth in order checkouts across categories including beauty and personal care, food and beverages, services, travel, and healthcare categories. This growth in order checkouts is a testament to the growing importance of convenience in the lives of customers, particularly women, from smaller markets.

At a national level, women aged between 41-50 years in tier 3 and beyond cities witnessed a notable increase of 54% in online order checkouts, showcasing a significant shift in consumer behaviour and highlighting the broadening appeal of e-commerce across diverse age groups. It also indicates the evolving user behaviour of seeking convenience in checkouts as a continuation of the seamless experience available on the e-commerce platforms. Here, cities such as Kanchipuram, Nainital, Madhubani, Shimla, and Kanpur along with Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata posted robust growth. Furthermore, there has been a 15% increase in average order value in 2023 as compared to 2022.

At a yearly level, 2023 witnessed nearly 50% growth in transactions by women over 2022 with services,  beauty and personal care, travel, healthcare and F&B segments growing at 1268%, 160%, 79%, 40%, 23% respectively. Among the most preferred merchants are Nykaa in beauty and personal care, BookMyShow, Nobroker, DriveU in services; Zomato, Blinkit, and Swiggy in Food and delivery. Here, wellness stood out as a category, posting nearly 40% growth in transactions, with Apollo 24|7 leading the category demand, thereby highlighting customers’ comprehensive approach to well-being.
