Bank of Baroda organizes Mega Camp in Kakatpur (Puri), Odisha under Financial Inclusion Saturation Drive of the Department of Financial Services, Government of India
Bengaluru: Bank of Baroda, one of India’s leading public sector banks, organized Mega Camps in Kakatpur, Puri today under the Saturation Campaign of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The campaign, running from July 1 to September 30, 2025, aims to ensure 100% coverage of financial inclusion and social security schemes at the Gram Panchayat (GP) and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) level across the country.
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Debadatta Chand, MD & CEO, Bank of Baroda; Shri Krushna Chandra Jena, Sarpanch, Kaduanuagaon Gram Panchayat; Smt. Swapna Bandopadhaya, General Manager & Zonal Head, Bhubaneswar Zone; and Shri Satya Ranjan Mahapatra, Regional Head, Bhubaneswar Zone, along with senior officials from the bank. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 500 villagers, highlighting the growing demand for financial literacy and accessible banking services in rural areas.
In his keynote address, Dr. Debadatta Chand, MD & CEO, Bank of Baroda, emphasized the importance of financial inclusion and the bank’s pledge to extend banking services to every citizen. He said, “Financial inclusion is fundamental to achieving equitable development and empowering all sections of society. Marking our mega camps in Odisha this month, we reaffirm our commitment to bringing banking services, insurance, and social security schemes to every eligible individual and household in the state. The strong and enthusiastic participation from diverse communities reflects growing confidence in formal banking channels. Today’s initiative in Kakatpur, Puri speaks about the Bank of Baroda’s dedication to reaching the last mile and promoting inclusive growth throughout Odisha.” He also personally engaged with participants during the camp.
The Mega Camp offered vital assistance to communities, including opening new accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) for unbanked individuals and enrolling them under social security schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). Guidance was also provided on claiming unclaimed deposits.
Furthermore, Re-KYC drives were conducted for eligible inactive savings accounts under PMJDY, accompanied by awareness sessions to prevent digital fraud. Special counters facilitated exchange of soiled currency notes along with Banking Correspondent (BC) Points for customer convenience. On this occasion, credit facilities were disbursed through cheque to the beneficiaries.
