MotoGP 2024 Round 9 Preview, Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland
Germany: After the sprint from the Netherlands to Germany, Joan Mir and Luca Marini will be back in the saddle of the Honda RC213V for round nine.
A quick dash of some 650 kilometres is all that separated the Dutch TT and the German GP weekends, the Repsol Honda Team arrive in Germany to immediately start preparing for the next race – the German GP. Sachsenring’s 3.67 kilometres are some of the most unique on the calendar, its tight and technical layout providing a very specific challenge for the MotoGP grid.
Joan Mir once again showed his speed in Assen, comfortably running as the top Honda rider during the race before an unfortunate fall. Focusing on improving his consistency and delivering on the undeniable potential he has will be the 2020 MotoGP World Champion’s main objective.
The weekend in Sachsenring will give Luca Marini another type of circuit to test the Honda RC213V. Fortunes are poised to be turned for the Italian who endured a potential-limiting weekend last time out. Sachsenring is a circuit which holds fond memories for Marini, scoring his first World Championship podium there in 2018 while in the Moto2 class.
Joan Mir
“No time to rest! Straight back to it as we now arrive in Germany. Sachsenring is a very different track to Assen, so let’s see what can happen there. I think the plan for the weekend will be similar to that of Assen, making the most of our package and confirming a few things before this second break.”
Luca Marini
“In Germany we need to find the luck that we lost last weekend. I’m approaching the weekend the same as every other one – determined to work hard and make progress. In Assen we had a lot of potential, so my objective is to deliver on that and show the progress we have been making.”
